IMG_20170307_122442***Due to injury we are currently looking to fill a chalet couple position, or a host plus a driver. Please contact Gary ASAP if this interests you (updated Feb 6th)***

Eight seasons after opening our doors in 2009 a lot has changed within Valley Fever. We have expanded, welcomed thousands of guests, and tweaked our products & service to ensure we deliver to the highest of standards.

One thing has remained constant…. the most important thing…. and that is the quality of our team.

Our team form the core of everything we do, from wake up drinks in the morning through to serving dessert at night, the value add service with a smile is why we exist 8 years on and why so many guests come back year after year.

Our recruitment is currently complete for Winter 2017/18, however we welcome applications at any time for next year, including applications from individuals, couples or good friends looking to work together.

We look for experienced people (preferably having completed a season already) – those with great people skills, an eye for detail, a passion for customer service, and those who take ownership, get stuck in and get the job done. Working closely with us, but taking full ownership of the chalets we’ll give you the support & training you need but we’ll also give you the freedom to add your personality to Valley Fever.

Communication with guests is key to helping deliver an excellent level of service. We want you to be interested in their day, find out what they are planning, and be proactive in helping them avoid known pitfalls such as lift queues, perhaps an icy run etc. We hope this gives you more job satisfaction and guests an awesome holiday!

We want you to get the most out of your season too, so keen skiers or boarders are preferred, and we pride ourselves in helping you achieve your winter goals.

It is hard work, you’ll need to be very flexible and you never quite know what’s around the corner.

Next winter we’ll be looking to fill positions including:

  • Driver & Chalet Cover
  • Chalet Couples
  • Individual chalet hosts

If you think our jobs are for you, or you’d like to know more, then please get in touch!

We’ve had an amazing summer…..

Gary got married. We cycled the Route Des Grandes Alpes (from Chamonix to Nice across the high mountain passes), and the weather has been amazing. Yet as winter approaches and snow starts to appear on the high mountains, we have a feeling in the depths of our stomachs that Winter 2015/16 is going to one of the best ones yet!

Chamonix is upping its game, and combined with an almost certain El Nino event Mother Nature could be kind too!

Le Tour, late November

Le Tour, late November, before the season starts!

Of course we’ve heard all the pre-winter tales and fantasies promising a good season before, and we know there is always bumper snow when the onions have two skins, or when Marmottes are seen in groups of 3 in early October. Yet this time does it seem more feasible? With most of the experts predicting a very strong possibility of one of the harshest winters to hit Europe in 60 years (almost a certainty quoted by some), we at Valley Fever think it does……

Bring on lots of the white stuff…..!

What’s new in Chamonix?

The simple answer is quite a lot!

Brevent, Les Grand Montets, Le Tour and Les Houches will all see infrastructure improvements enhancing the ski experience for all levels of skier. We’ll see new chairlifts, a new funispace to access beginners to a friendly plateau at Brevent, new snowboard and ski cross routes, and finally (really about time!) the jibbers and big air lovers will be delighted to hear Chamonix will have one of the biggest snowparks in Europe!

But it doesn’t stop there…

The Chamonix bus network is expanding the night bus services to 4 per evening from 2030, and renewing its fleet to become much more environmentally friendly. While on holiday with us you’re likely to use our slope shuttles most of the time, however this addition can only help, especially for those late night returns to Les Praz or Argentiere.

The MBU ski pass has improved too, and this year guests and seasonaires alike can ski Megeve, St Gervais and the rest of the Evasion Mont Blanc Ski area as part of the MBU ski pass. We can’t wait to take our guests to new areas, opening up even more day trips that now include Courmayeur (Italy), Verbier (Switzerland) and the Evasion Mont Blanc ski area!

How does this look on the hill?

Brevent: FUNI 2000 will be completed. A short mini-funicular only 70 metres long with a height gain of 37 metres, but crucially making Brevent an attractive destination for beginners and lower intermediates including stunning Mont Blanc views. It will be no longer necessary to ski the steep blue run before taking the Parsa chairlift to get there, meaning that beginners can enjoy Brevent and ski only green runs.

Le Tour - snow sure

Le Tour always delivers, and now has a snowpark!

Le Tour: Possibly the most long awaited development in Chamonix will see the addition of one of the biggest snowparks in Europe. At 1,000m long and 100m wide, it will have features, kickers and rails for all abilities, plus a zone for relaxing and a sound system. The freestyle area will be located next to the ‘Teleski du col’ in an area that attracts lots of natural snowfall.

Les Grand Montets: A new snowboard and ski cross will be created here in an area sponsored by BMW, including video and course timing devises. Two routes will cover a recreational course (400m long with 3 jumps, 8 whoops and 2 banked turns), and a more advanced course (800m long with 5 jumps, 10 whoops and 8 banked turns). We at Valley Fever are super stoked at this new development and look forward to (safely!) racing each other…

Les Houches: We’ve said for years that the best red run in Les Houches (overlooking the Arve valley) is spoiled by the slow and perilous drag lifts you need to take to return from it, and thankfully one chair will be replacing two of those. We all know chair lifts are where its at!

Fun for all Chamonix

Honey Monster on Tour

With all these factors cranking up our excitement levels as the autumn sets in, we are more excited than ever to deliver superb holidays and a first rate service to our guests.

Drop us a line at any time to chat, enquire, or pick our brains and remember all you have to do is arrange your flights to Geneva and we can do the rest.

Now, come on Mother Nature, and serve up a huge powder season!
